A drip cap is an aluminium profile fitted on the outside of PVC, ALU and timber windows with the purpose of directing rainwater and snowmelt away from the facade. This protects the joint between the window and wall from moisture ingress and extends the durability of the facade.
On facades with thermal insulation, correct water drainage is especially important. When water penetrates between the drip cap and the thermal insulation, moisture can become trapped, freeze, crack the finishing layer and lead to costly repairs.
