Explanation of terms

Sve što treba da znate pre izbora stolarije — komore, debljine profila, toplotna i zvučna izolacija, te razlike između PVC i ALU sistema.

Chamber explanation

The choice between options depends on the specific needs of the building, including climate conditions, energy requirements, sound insulation, and budget. We will gladly advise you on the best choice for your property, but the basic things you should know are:

Four-chamber vs. Six-chamber profiles

Four-chamber profiles:

  • Structure: They have four internal chambers that help achieve basic thermal and sound insulation.
  • Thermal insulation: They offer good basic thermal insulation, but are not the most efficient in reducing heat loss.
  • Sound insulation: They provide basic sound insulation.
  • Stability: They are sufficiently stable for standard applications and average climate conditions.
  • Use: They are ideal for standard residential and commercial applications where top insulation performance is not required.

Six-chamber profiles:

  • Structure: They have six internal chambers that improve thermal and sound insulation.
  • Thermal insulation: They provide better thermal insulation compared to four-chamber profiles, which reduces heat loss and increases energy efficiency.
  • Sound insulation: They provide better sound insulation, which is useful in noisy environments or for comfort in residential spaces.
  • Stability: They offer higher stability and strength, useful in harsh climate conditions or for larger windows and doors.
  • Use: They are recommended for more energy-efficient projects, areas with extreme climate conditions, and commercial facilities where high sound and thermal insulation quality is important.

Profile thickness explanation

Difference between 60mm, 70mm, 76mm and 88mm profile thickness:

60mm profile

  • Thermal insulation: Provides the lowest thermal insulation among offered thicknesses, adequate for most moderate climate conditions.
  • Thickness: The smallest thickness, with weaker thermal insulation capability.
  • Use: Suitable for standard residential and commercial projects that do not require thermal insulation, such as interior doors, storage spaces, and similar cases.

70mm profile

  • Thermal insulation: Provides basic thermal insulation adequate for most moderate and cold climate conditions.
  • Thickness: Standard thickness often sufficient for average good sound and thermal insulation in homes.
  • Use: Suitable for standard residential and commercial projects.

76mm profile

  • Thermal insulation: Provides improved thermal insulation compared to 70mm profiles, which can be significant for energy-efficient projects.
  • Thickness: Greater thickness allows better stability and additional functionalities, such as improved sound insulation.
  • Use: Ideal for projects in colder regions or where better energy efficiency and sound insulation are needed.

88m profile

  • Thermal insulation: Best level of thermal insulation, ideal for extreme climates and energy-efficient projects.
  • Thickness: These profiles offer top performance in terms of stability, strength, and insulation.
  • Use: Recommended for very cold climates, energy-efficient buildings, and situations requiring maximum sound insulation and durability.

Thermal insulation - explanation

In the case of windows, we have different components made of different materials, and therefore there are different U values:

  • Ug - Term for glass surfaces, where the letter "g" denotes glazing.
  • Uf - Value measure for the frame component (here "f" stands for frame).
  • Uv - Shows the value for the entire window, composed of two separate values for glazing and frame. The lower the “Uv” value, the better the insulation.

A window with a Uv value of 0.8 W/(m²K) or less is suitable for passive houses, meaning it insulates especially well.

Sound insulation - explanation

Window sound insulation contributes to comfort by reducing transfer of noise from outside to inside. Rw represents how well a window blocks sound, and the value is measured in decibels (dB). A higher Rw value means better sound insulation.

PRODUCTS: WINDOWS AND BALCONY DOORS

Balcony doors and all types of windows have the same construction principle as regular windows, which is why we place them in the same category as doors. The difference between balcony doors and windows is only size.

Windows and balcony doors at Extol can be made from:

Winner Classic 60mm - 4 chamber profile

  • Material: uPVC
  • Ideal for: Lowest budget
  • Insulation: Uf = 1.56 W/m²K, Uv up to 1 W/m²K
  • Security: Up to RC2

Winner Future 70

  • Type: 6-chamber profile, installation depth 70 mm
  • Ideal for: Limited budget
  • Insulation: Uf = 1.33 W/m²K, Uv up to 0.9 V/m²K
  • Security:

Winner Maximus 76MD

  • Type: 6-chamber profile, installation depth 76 mm
  • Insulation: Uf = 1.1 W/m²K, Uv up to 0.8 V/m²K
